We took the train back to Avignon and went to the old town for dinner.

Triumphal Arch of Orange

The arch was built iin AD 20 during the reign of Emperor Augustus. It is 19.5 m long and 8.4 m wide and stands at 19.2 m. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1981.

The arch is now situated on a roundabout and faces the old town

This theatre was built during the reign of Emperor Augustus. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 1981.

Steps to the theatre

The 37 m high wall behind the stage is well preserved

The thaetre has perfect acoustics because the wall help to project sound to the audience

Orange Cathedral

The cathedral of our lady of Nazareth or Notre Dame de Nazareth dates from the 4th century. It was rebuilt in the Romanesque style in the 12th century.
