Angelika Restaurant

We had our lunch at this restaurant by the Danube, directly opposite  the Parliament








St Anne's Church

Construction of this Baroque church began in 1740.





On the main portal stand the sculptures of Faith, Hope and Charity






We couldn't enter as it was closed. This church is open for services only.

Crossing the Danube River

We took the metro to cross the Danube from Kossuth ter to Batthyany ter.

Shoes Memorial on the Danube Promenade

This is a memorial to the Jews who were killed in Budapest during World War II

They were told to take off their shoes, shot at the edge and fell into the river.




It represents the shoes left behind on the bank.

River Danube

The Danube is the continent's second longest river after the Volga. We promenaded along the river while looking for the memorial.

This monument symbolises the crossing of Imre Nagy, the prime minister from the side of Communism to the side of the people in 1956. A protest that cost him his life
