Kyoto Imperial Palace

This palace was the official residence of the Imperial family until 1868 when the capital of Japan was moved to Tokyo.

Map of the palace

None of the buildings is open to the public

The current palace was reconstructed in 1855 when it was burnt down

The Hall of State Ceremonies
Where the enthronement of Emperors Taisho (1912) and Showa (1926) were held

Some of the paintings found inside the buildings

I would suggest that you visit another World Heritage site in Kyoto instead of coming here. The only consolation is that there is no entrance fee.
