Bergama



Perched on a hilltop and known in ancient times as Pergamum (Greek for "Citadel") it was an important kingdom during the 2nd century BC.



Library ruins



This library reputedly contained 200,000 parchment scrolls but many were given to its rival in Alexandria as part of Mark Anthony's wedding gift to Cleopatra in 41 BC



Temple of Trajan completed during the reign of Hadrian II (AD 117-138)











The Amphitheatre

Constructed in the 3rd century BC, this theatre has 80 rows with estimated capacity of 80,000.
