Cite de Carcassonne

Carcassonne is a town in the south of France. The Romans transformed it into a citadel in the 3rd century. The fortress has two outer walls with 53 towers. It was listed as a World heritage Site in 1997. A visit to Carcassonne is to take a journey back in time to 2,500 years.

We visited the Basilique St Nazaire, Chateau Comtal and the ramparts of the castle. We then walked around the town before going back to Avignon.
