Bridge of Sighs

This bridge is in fact called Hertford Bridge. It links the New and Old Quadrangles of Hertford College. It is better known as the Bridge of Sighs because of its similarity with the better known Bridge of Sighs in Venice. We have also been to the other Bridges of Sighs in Venice and Cambridge.

The initial collection was donated to the University by Elias Ashmole. This museum has grown to be one of the best in Britain outside London. It was opened in 1683 and widely recognised as the first modern museum.

We knew we couldn't see the whole of the museum so we concentrated on the Egyptian and Western Art sections only

This commemorates the three Protestants who were burned at the stake for heresy in 1555.

Unfortunately, the church was closed

Egypt

We just came back from Egypt today. I will start my posts on Egypt after I have finished my posts on England.
