Church of St John the Baptist

This church is by far the largest parish church in Gloucestershire and and may be the largest in England. It is informally known as the Cathedral of the Cotswolds because of its size. It was built in the 12th century on the site of an earlier church.


It was built using the local Cotswolds stones

Cirencester

Known as the capital of the Cotswolds, Cirencester is the largest town in the Cotswolds. We came to see the Church of St John the Baptist.

Tetbury Hill Cemetery

As we were leaving Malmesbury we saw this cemetery and decided to stop here.
















Malmesbury Abbey

Malmesbury Abbey was founded in the 7th century and has a continous history until the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII

Malmesbury

Malmesbury is the first town we visited in the Cotswolds.


Malmesbury War Memorial Cross



The market cross was built in c1490 and stands in the middle of the town 



It is one of the best preserved market crosses in England
