Louvre Museum : Greek, Etruscan and Roman Antiquities
This is the third department we visited. We wanted to see two of the museum's three great ladies; the Venus de Milo and the Victory of Samothrace.

We could not finish the trail and will continue on Friday evening since we have planned to visit Louvre for two evenings.
Louvre Museum: Egyptian Antiquities
The creation of the Egyptian department is not a direct consequence of Napoleon's expedition to Egypt between 1798 and 1801. It was Champollion, when he became the curator of the department.

Louvre Museum : The Medieval Moats
We knew we could not see the whole of Louvre and we decided to spend two evenings there. We followed one of the trails provided by Lourve; Masterpieces, in Search of Ideal Beauty.
The Louvre started as a fortress and then a Royal Palace before it was turned into a museum when the French Monarchy moved to Versailles in 1793.
The estimated time of the trail was 1 hour 30 mins. We could not complete the trail because each section is so big with so many things to see and not to mention getting lost along the way.
Louvre Museum
We decided to visit Louvre Museum in the evening because it is open until 9.45 pm on Wednesday and Friday. This is also because the days are shorter in winter and we had to visit the outdoor sights during the day.

Les Catacombes
This catacomb was built in 1810 to solve Paris' overflowing cemeteries by exhuming the bones and storing them here. It is also the world's largest grave as it holds the remains of more 6 million people.
We reached there at about 5.05 pm
We have to queue for 1.5 hours to get in

130 steps to go down
Only this 1.5 km long tunnel is open to the public

This catacomb was originally the limestone quarries initially situated on the outskirt of Paris before the city expanded.
It is estimated that the maze of tunnels herein are about 300 km long
