Dinner at Gourmet Burger Kitchen

We went back to Earl's Court for dinner.

Persian Lamb Burger

Buffalo Burger

This is my favourite burger restaurant in London. We have eaten here many times

Westfields Stratford City

Westfield in Stratford  is the largest shopping mall in Europe.

Perhaps this is better than Oxford Street because it is all under one roof and we don't have to worry about the weather.

Langdon Park Station

We stopped here on our way to Stratford

Canary Wharf

Please see  my earlier post on Canary Wharf

Lewisham

Lewisham is situated on the south east of London. It is currently the last stop for the Stratford-Lewisham line

The Renaissance

Docklands Light Railway

We travelled further east to Tower Hill Station. We then walked to the Tower Gateway Station which is about 100 m away to change to the DLR line.

Petticoat Lane

Petticoat Lane was established over 400 years ago by the French Huguenots who sold petticoats and lace here.

It was quiet when we were there.
But it has more than 1000 stalls on Sunday

Christ Church, Spitalfields

Christ Church was built between 1714 and 1729 as part of the Fifty New Churches Act of 1711.  Its purpose was to ‘bring religion to the godless masses of London’ and to combat the threat of the Protestants Huguenots

The Old Spitalfields Market, opposite the church

Old Spitalfields Market

Old Spitalfields Market started in 1638 when King Charles gave a license for "flesh, fowl, and roots" to be sold in what was then known as Spittle Fields.  It is one of the finest surviving Victorian market halls in London.

Remembering the French Protestants

There are  shops selling hand-made craft, fashion, and gifts.

There are also shops selling organic vegetables, bread and pies and pastries. Many restaurants too.

Lunch at Poppie's

We went to Spitalfields to to look for this chippy. It was quite a walk from Aldgate East station.

She didn't want Fish and chips!

Pie and chips

Fish and chips (with salt and vinegar)
It was unforgettable...

We were glad that we made the effort to find this place. Poppie's has been rated as one of the best chippy in London

Queen Mary, University of London

We came here to see the university and the surrounding area. I wanted to show her that the University of Exeter is a better choice and place to study.

This Jewish cemetery is right in the middle of the university

Earl's Court

We walked to the tube station about 150 m away.

Westbound to Ealing Broadway

Ealing Broadway. I lived near this station for about 3 months before moving to Boston Manor. It reminded of the days when I used to take the tube from here. That was 25 years ago.
