Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri was built by Akbar in 1571 and has been the capital of the Mughal empire for 14 years.

We had to take a bus from the car park to the site

This World Heritage Site is divided into two parts; the Jama Masjid and the Imperial Palace. Luckily, we have read about this place beforehand, otherwise we would have been fooled by the guide into thinking that Fatehpur Sikri only consisted of the Jama Masjid area. When we asked about the palace complex, he said we have no time for that. When we insisted on seeing the palace complex, he said we needed to buy new tickets for it. So we paid for the new tickets.

When we came back, we realised that visitors need not buy tickets for the Jama Masjid area and we have paid twice for the tickets. He has pocketed the first tickets which we paid to him earlier. Never use the BLUE EYES skiny Indian guide.
